Big Tick Gala Silent Auction Preview on Facebook

From now until June 4th, we'll be revealing three items per day on Facebook that will be available in our Silent Auction this year. We've got a great lineup so if you haven't purchased tickets yet, there's still time.

In January of this year, Governor and Mrs. Donald Carcieri announced that "Jamestown Bridge Regatta" by North Kingstown artist Stephen Mancini was selected as the winner of the Best in Show Award in the 2010 Scenes of Rhode Island art competition. Stephen Mancini has gained national recognition has an artist and photographer, and he has earned a Clio award for film. His work is included in galleries in Newport, Boston, Block Island, and Naples, Florida, and in private and corporate collections.

Mr. Mancini's original winning painting will hang in the State House during the Carcieri Administration. The artist assisted in the reproduction of the piece as a high-quality, limited edition poster to be used by the Governor and Mrs. Carcieri as gifts to non-profit organizations and visiting dignitaries. The piece promotes the artistic talent and aesthetic beauty found throughout the State of Rhode Island.

The annual Scenes of Rhode Island Exhibition and Awards were established as a partnership between the Governor's Office and the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts. This year, the exhibit included 42 works of art by Rhode Island residents, selected from over 300 works submitted for consideration.
