Memorial Day marked start of tick season

"SOUTH KINGSTON, R.I. (WPRI) -- Memorial Day marked the unofficial start of summer, but also marked the start of tick season. The beginning of warmer weather is the time to be most aggressive with tick prevention.
URI Professor Tom Mather and his team began their annual tick counting on Tuesday, as the team researched the effectiveness of yard tick treatments. Last week was their training week and the team will be sampling most of the summer.
'If we end up in a situation where we have lots of daytime high humidity, then these ticks will just thrive until we get some dry weather that kills them off'".
